Paulina Komorowska-Birger's Collection in Private Hands
Object, glass
2020-2023
Information
The first work with the idea of glass additions (Stone and Glass)² was created in 1995. The sugar bowl from 2004, which I received from Mom, is already a supplement to the object in the realm of sentimental works. The next ones are Guitar, Tinker Bell, Venus of Milk from 2005. The first work dedicated to my Nephew is the sugar bowl from 2014, and the candlestick from 2016 was dedicated to my Sister. In 2019, the cycle Pots of Mother-in-law, Neighbor's Samovar was created, in which a significant role was played by a set of pots used by my late Mother-in-law.
In a conversation with the Director of the Museum of the Lubuskie Region regarding the importance of the collection and the value of the work, I realized that an interesting experiment would be to build my own collection, which would be in private hands from the beginning. From that moment on, starting with Leszek Kania, I propose to people who are or have been important to me to give me an object of sentimental value to them for supplementation. Marek Lalko documents each object, which, in the form of a work, returns to the owners. The collection is open-ended; I don't know yet when I will consider it closed...
